Authentic Japanese Sushi at Takumi
What was once the offbeat Kink Bar in Kloof Street, has now been transformed into a fabulous new sushi bar in the vibrant Park Road, Gardens, known as Takumi.
A great new addition to the Cape Town food scene, the vibe is cool, minimalist Japaesque interiors with lighting that is a little too bright. A lengthy menu of interesting and diverse sushi, sashimi, tofu and noodle dishes, a small but reasonable selection of wines and knowledgeable efficient staff.
Papasan (formerly of Minatos) is Japanese and a true Sushi master. According to Papasan the important ingredient of Sushi is in the rice and the quality of the fish. He does not believe in reusing any food, particularly not the rice and certainly not the fish.
An exceptionally well priced menu, but this does not detract from the quality of the Sushi. It certainly is one of the best (maybe even the best) Japanese restaurants in Cape Town. It’s a small well-designed venue so booking is essential. The back courtyard in summer will be exceptional.
